An Orange Flower   Leave a comment

Beside Mitchell Bridge Road,

beside a ditch,

amid a sea of green,

a lone orange flower blooms,

casting its splendor across the grass.

An Afternoon Walk   Leave a comment

Two turtles sunned themselves

on rocks in the mildly swollen Middle Oconee River;

one returned to the water.

Nearby two large white birds stood on other rocks

and I noticed that a tree had fallen from the opposite bank,

becoming a bridge to a small island.

The cool breeze blew,

the sun shone,

and water cascaded over rocks.
