1 Thes. 5, 19

1.  This is the Holy Spirit come to convince the world of sin and to testify to Christ.  He alone does.

2.  He is to guide into all truth and impart needed grace daily.  Will impart more & more of the fullness of Christ to us.  Will impart power to resist evil and to serve God acceptably.  This is imperative for us.  If he should leave us alone we would be helpless and undone forever.

3.  But all this is possible only to those who would yield to his influence.  We may resist him–quench his influence–hence the text, “Ye do always resist the Holy Spirit as your fathers did.”  Why should we?  He seeks only our good.  We may yield to him and find peace and enlargement of soul.

4.  Be sure you do not resist or hinder the Spirit.  He is God; give Him the right-of-way in your life.  Follow gladly only where He leads.  At the peril of your soul do not quench Him.  Do now just what He impresses you to do.
