Above:  Parable of the Talents

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Matt. 25, 14-30

1.  What are the talents?  Anything above natural ability that can be used for good–opportunity to serve.  Time, position, money, or an opportunity to use for good any ability.

2.  Their source?  God gives them.  Every good is from Him.  He gives them for us to use till he comes.  We are His servants; these gifts are His property and He will reckon with us when He comes.  Given according to to our ability to use them.

3.  One class used them an d were blessed therein.  Given to be used.  “Heareth and doeth these sayings.”  Theirs was the joy of increased goods and their Master’s approval.  “The liberal soul shall be made fat.”  Service brings a sure and blest reward.  These are they who help save the world.

May their tribe increase.

4.  One did nothing and was impoverished and condemned.  His successors are far too numerous.  Whether great or small they are heaven-sent opportunities & he was obligated to improve them.  Of course, he offered [an] excuse.

The only way to rid oneself of a responsibility is to discharge it; else hurt is sure.
