1 Jno. 5, 4

1.  The Christian life is a warfare.  The world, sin in all its forms, opposes the efforts of the Christian.  Temptations and outward opposition to the right.  These are numerous and arise unexpectedly.

2.  The power by which men overcome these is from above.  The Invisible alone can empower us to conquer sin.  How, then, may we appropriate for ourselves needed help?

3.  Faith that lays hold of the eternal is our victory.  Thus the unseen becomes consciously real to us.  Jesus responds to faith.

(1)  We are converted when we believe him.  According to your faith be it unto you.” “Only believe.”

(2)  “The just shall live by faith.”  By our confidence in God we receive needed grace and conquer our every foe–are more than conquerors.

4.  By faith in her great Leader, the Church is slowly, yet surely winning the world for Him.  The day is steadily approaching when every evil work shall e abolished and He shall reign from sea to sea.  We shall yet join the song of eternal conquest and cast the trophies of the world at His feet.
