Matt. 7, 24-25

I.

Obedience is the test of our piety.  “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”  Devote yourself to the things I reach.  They are the law of life to his followers.  Not mere profession but obedience is required.  (Is. 21-22)

(1)  One said, “I go, sir,”but did not.  The other first said, “I go not,”but later repented and went.

II.

“Liken him to a wise man who built his house upon a rock”–a sure foundation.  He heard and obeyed God, devoted himself to God’s will.

(2)  The testing came–does to all of us.  Storms of adversity, opposition, trials.  They come to all of us.  Grace does not prevent their coming, but supports us when they arise.  That they do come is no indication of a lack of piety.

(3)  “It fell not.”  It withstood the storm, was unshaken, for its foundation was firm.  What triumph is in that word!!  It stood the test!!

III.

Would you be strong, able to endure and hold out to the end, despite the opposition of Satan?  Keep busy all the while doing the things that please God.

Be prayerful, read the word daily, keep up your interest in religious movements.  Trust the Lord every day.  You will win.
