Habakkuk Prays for a Revival   1 comment

Hab. 3, 2

1.  Habakkuk saw a need for a revival of religion.  Spirituality needed to be quickened and the tide of worldliness turned back.

Do we need a revival?  Are there souls to be edified and others led to Christ?  Most Christians became such in revivals.

2.  Such can come from God only.  His power alone is sufficient.  “It can’t be worked up, but must be prayed down.”  To forgive sins is the work of God only.  Only the Holy Spirit can quicken the soul.  He gives power to those who receive Him.

3.  Hence the prophet prays God to revive his work, to “remember mercy.”  God “delighteth in mercy;” He waits to be gracious.

We can do all this; old and young.  Continue in prayer as did the disciples at Pentecost.  “Continue to ask and ye shall receive.”  Let ours be a constant prayer for His wonderful grace to come upon us in mighty power.
